About me

Currently a Turkish student in UC Berkeley, CA, USA. I have been celiac disease since 2008 and I am still trying to understand every detail of this allergy. Hope I can share my finding here with you and you can find something useful to know…

  1. Hi-
Something that we learned when our daughter was diagnosed this year with a wheat allergy is that an allergy to wheat is different than celiac disease. People with celiac disease lack the enzyme required to digest gluten. People like our daughter, with wheat allergy have an immune system response to wheat. She can eat gluten from other sources like rye or barley, but no wheat in any form is safe for her. The symptoms may be similar, but the cause is different.
